Senator Murray Goes To Wallingford

  • Post author:

Did you know there are not one, but two Senator Murray’s? There’s Senator Patty Murray, who represents Washington State in the United States Senate, and Senator Edward B. Murray, who represents the 43rd Legislative District in Olympia. That’s us, people! Check out the 43rd Legislative District Map if you doubt it.

So guess who’s coming to the Hamilton International Middle School Auditorium (at Lincoln) Sunday, March 29th at 2 pm for a Town Hall Discussion? NOT Senator Patty Murray! Right, the other guy! Ed! He’s our man in Olympia, so come stick it to him.

Also, normally, we wouldn’t make a big deal out of this, because making a big deal out of it implicitly suggests that we’re othering him, as they used to say back in our college semiotic days, but we just watched Milk, plus a good friend of ours had the crap beaten out of him a couple weeks ago for being gay, so we will make a big deal out of it: Senator Murray is one of six openly gay members of the Washington State Legislature and was the main sponsor of legislation creating domestic partnerships, approved in 2007. More power to him.

Give ’em hell, Ed.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

That is so so horrible about your friend. It makes me angry to know that kind of hatred is still around.

    Go, Ed, go.
