You go yoga?

Am I the only one who think we need a yoga studio on 45th? I know we are encapsulated by many options in Fremont, Ballard, Greenlake, and the U District, but a yoga studio on 45th would be the perfect addition to Wallingford. I hear that Yogalife is looking for a third location. It would be great if that was Wallingford!

We agree. Sutra owners Amber and Colin run Rain City Yoga, but that’s on the far side of I-5, and there are two martial arts studios on 45th (or half-block from) but where’s the yoga? The closest we’re getting to “down dog” is picking up the occasional leavings on our lawn.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

I’d kill for a good bookstore up on the 45th strip (something other than all-poetry or all-kids-books). We used to have a couple, one in the (o so sad) Wallingford Center and a used one where Chocolati is now. Sure would be nice.

O, and those leavings aren’t from our dogs– we’re conscientious about their poop. 😉

And the problem with Chocolati is….????

A yoga studio in walking distance would be great! I’m a little bit hopeful about the new gym (Fuerte Fitness, I think?) on 45th, west of Stone Way. But their business model is beyond me — limited to 50 members? How do you ever get critical mass for classes and the like?

I would love a sandwich shop, a true deli counter, something like that. And a bookstore, bicycle repair, an appliance repair workshop, an interior/exterior design service for the rest of us (charge hourly). That’s just the beginning of my list…

PS There is a great yoga studio in the Good Shepherd Center, Seattle Holistic Center. There are 3 classes for regular folk (about level 2), tu and th at 5:30, sat at 9:00am. The other classes are for pre- and post-natal moms.

    C’mon down!

@5: Have you tried Bella Cosa for sandwiches? They’re actually pretty damn good. And their deli meats and cheeses are as good as it gets in Seattle. Salumi without the lines…
