60 x 60 at the Chapel

We love short. We love the Pecha Kucha / Ignite-style talks (5 minute talks, 20 slides, 15 seconds per slide, slides advance with or without the speaker), the 14 / 48 theater style (14 plays written and performed in 48 hours)  and especially Mrs. Wallyhood (5 foot 1 inch).

On that note, this Friday’s “60 x 60” show at the Chapel Performance Space in the Good Shepherd Center looks interesting (via Wayward Music blog:

Curated by composer Robert Voisey, 60×60 is an ongoing touring program of 60 pre-recorded electro-acoustic works from 60 different composers. Each composition is 60 seconds (or less) in duration, sequenced together to create a one-hour performance. Highlighting the work of a great many composers, 60×60 testifies to the vibrancy of contemporary composition by presenting the diverse array of styles, aesthetics and techniques being used today.

1 minute apiece? Perfect! If one of them is lousy, hey, only 15 seconds to go, right?

60 x 60 is Friday, 4/17 at 8 pm at the Chapel Performance Space at the Good Shepherd Center. $5 – $15 sliding scale admission. More info.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
