Salt Tasting

SaltIt sounds like one of those things your grandparents might tell you when they were feeling crotchety:

You kids don’t know how good you have it. Back in my day, we didn’t have wine and cheese for tastings. No! We had salt tastings, and were glad for it! My da’ would pile all twelve us into the basket of his bicycle (which had no wheels, mind you) and take us down to the salt market, where each one of us would get just one tiny little spoonful of salt for the tasting, no water to wash it down with neither mind you, and we’d cherish it as if it were our Christmas ham. Ach, kids today, they don’t know!

But no, it’s real: Bella Cosa (1711 N. 45th Street) is holding an Olive Oil and Salt Tasting this Saturday, 4/18 from 4 – 7 pm. Well, salt is the new water, so that makes sense, and olive oil really can be something more splendid than wine.

It should make a great opportunity to meet the new owners, Jared and Bronwyn, as well.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
