Sponsoring Wallyhood

  • Post author:

It’s been a short three and half months since the first Wallyhood post appeared. Since then, we’ve covered art and gardens, people and restaurants, openings, closings, crime, goings-on and gossip (and Babalu!). We set out to make the neighborhood feel a bit smaller, help people to get to know each other and have a little fun along the way.

We think we’ve done a pretty good job. Our numbers, for those who care about such things:

  • ~240 posts
  • 3,400 unique visitors / month (+350 RSS readers)
  • 20,000 page views / month
  • 2:30 minutes average time on site

Not too shabby, especially given size of our little neck of the woods.

Now, we’d like to share the page with a small set of like-minded sponsors from the community. We’re not interesting in plastering ads all over the site, but we are carving out some well-positioned space for Wallingford-based businesses to get noticed by their community and to show their support for our endeavor.

If your business is interested in becoming a charter sponsor of Wallyhood, please e-mail us at [email protected] for more information.

In the interest of giving back to the community, we’ll be donating 10% of all gross proceeds to FamilyWorks.

Payday Loans need not apply.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Hey, Wallyhood, I think putting some ads on the site is a great idea. You put a lot of work into this and it has turned out to be quite an asset to our community (but don’t get a fat head about it!).
We want you to continue to bee successful……..

Absolutely. Bring on the ads. If this site becomes a burden to you it’ll burn you out.
