Wallingford Break-In

  • Post author:

The Seattle P-I is reporting a break-in and assault at restaurant on the “1700 block of 45th Street” (stretching from Babalu to Wells Fargo on the south side of the street).

Police are investigating a Wallingford restaurant robbery that happened early Tuesday.

About 2 a.m. a man broke glass in the front door of the restaurant, in the 1700 block of North 45th Street. He grabbed cash from the register once inside, but the business owner went downstairs to confront him.

Police said they got into a fight, and the suspect hit the owner over the head with a heavy jar. He ran away and remains at large despite a police dog attempt to track him.

The victim’s head injury is not considered life-threatening, police said.

Burglary detectives are investigation. A detailed suspect description was not released.

We hope the police are actually investigating this one.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

It was the Bella Cosa deli, which was obviously closed at 2am.

    Meth heads, probably.

What a horrible way for the new owners of Bella Cosa to be welcomed into the neighborhood. I’m definitely going to stop by this weekend and show the owners some support.
