Ever wonder about those “Apple Maggot Quarantine Area: Do Not Transport Home Grown Fruit” signs you see heading north on I-5 and east on 522? Ever make you feel a tetch skitchy living in a Quarantine Area?

Come learn what you can do to control the dreaded apple maggot in your own backyard. Lily writes:

I am organizing an I.P.M. Workshop at the Good Shepherd Center this Sunday morning, May 24th from 9 am to 11 am which will teach people how to protect fruit trees from Apple Maggot and Codling moth as well as help them to learn how to look for signs that their fruit may need such protection.

The presentation will feature with John Reardon, Vice President of the Seattle Tree Fruit Society.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
