Caspar Babypants report

Caspar Signing AutographsThis Saturday, we made it up Alphabet Soup just in time to catch the crowds leaving the adoring fans lining up for their autograph moment with Caspar Babypants (aka Chris Bellew of the Presidents of the United States of the America) and his percussionist, Fred Babyshirt. We chatted with Stephen and Margie, who assured us that house was well-packed and the kids were up and dancing (occasionally into the musician). From Alphabet Soup’s blog:

Caspar played songs from his debut, “Here I am” and some new tunes that’ll be appearing on his next release, already in the planning stages. All the songs were crowd pleasers, but two favorites were “Fuzzy Wuzzy” with new verses about various animal friends, and a very nice version of PUSA’s “Kitty,” which had the grown-ups and kids rocking. Also worth note was “Little Broken Truck” for which Caspar… was joined by his daughter Josie & everyone in the audience joined in. A rockin’, rollin’ time was had by all. Thanks, Caspar!

No stage diving or crowd surfing was reported.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Locavore-music tip: Those who enjoyed Mr. Babypants live should check out the CD “Sing with a Child,” a collection of quirky tunes for little ones that features Chris Ballew (aka Caspar Babypants) and friends. Sales of the CD support PEPS, a nonprofit helping families that’s based right here in Wallingford.

If you’re a parent, you might have heard about PEPS’s terrific newborn groups. PEPS’s mission is to provide “community-based programs that enable parents of infants and young children to meet the challenges of parenting through mutual support and shared information.”
