Civility

We love you. No, really, we do.

Why? Simple stuff. For example, take a look at the comments section the recent Noise vs Neighbors post. A potentially flame war in the making as the peace-and-quiet clan squared off against the vibrant-nightlife crew. But did Wallyhood readers wade into fiery tussle of name-calling and chest pounding? Nope, just a bunch of folks offering their opinion about where the balance should be and, it seemed, listening to each other and offering suggestions.

And how about Grinding Wheels of Progress, where one commenter replied a bit too hastily to another. Did the recipient of the barb shoot back with an angry retort? Did others, sensing weakness leap into the fray? Nope. Another commenter gently chided the first, who apologized, defused the situation with a joke and the conversation continued.

God, we love Wallingford.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Yep, Wallingfordians are pretty civil. No name calling so far.
Some folks just want a nights’ sleep and some want to dance all night at their neighbor’s expense.
Big question I was asked by my “Better Half” was, why do some businesses want to have such extremely loud music? Can’t they just bring it down a few notches – maybe they can hear the drink orders easier.
BTW, Wallyhood, are “we” disappointed that there wasn’t a food fight over that posting?
