Michele S. tipped us off that the Wallingford branch of the Seattle Public Library will be closing for renovations as of Friday, June 26th. We popped our heads in and got the skinny:
The branch is expected to reopen Tuesday, Sept 8th, which makes for a long, libraryless summer. It seems the carpet was in dire need of replacement (it was coming up in dangerous ways, we saw it with our own eyes), and, once you’re removing the carpet, well, you may as well do some reconfiguring. They’ll be adding more adult seating areas and another computer, plus a new coat of paint and a generally improved traffic pattern.
All the librarians are being redeployed to other branches, so nobody’s losing a job. Unless you specify otherwise, your holds will be transferred to the Greenlake branch.

Here’s hoping that renovation is a sign its not on the chopping block? I’ve found that the library doesn’t work for me personally, but I’m glad its around.
