McDonald School Ribbon Cutting

Sounds like the McDonald School Project is wrapping up their Phase 1:

This is a reminder to please join us Saturday, June 13th for the Friends of McDonald School celebration and fun festival.

We will be celebrating and thanking all who’ve generously donated time and funding — including the 80 people who turned out May 30th for cleanup and installation. We’re excited to celebrate the “Phase 1” improvements to the playground area this coming Saturday.

The play fields are sparkling with new play equipment, freshly painted game areas, new tables and benches, a new basketball hoop, and more. Yea, we did it!

Please join us next Saturday, June 13th from 10am – Noon at McDonald School – on Latona, between 54th and 55th NE.
There will be games, music, snacks and fun for the entire family! Plus, a ribbon-cutting ceremony for our new play structure. Please bring portable chairs if you need them.

We still need a few more helpers for several small tasks on this day (greeting table, face painting, games, etc). Help make it happen by signing up here:  http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/16-61883465825

If these sign-up links are confusing to you, just email Carolyn at [email protected] and we’ll find a task for you.

If you are pro-playground and want to help their Phase 2, there’s still time:

If you haven’t yet pledged $$ or time for the “Phase II” match effort, please email [email protected] for more information. We’re submitting the next grant application mid-June and really need your continuing support to be successful.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
