I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

I love this video! And it so makes me wish I’d walked down Wallingford to see the fireworks, rather than go watch from the roof of my friend’s top-of-Queen Anne building. It seemed like a good idea, since there were no Elliott Bay fireworks, but it still took me 45 minutes to get home (compared to the usual 8). I got turned away and rerouted so many times, I don’t actually quite remember what my route was to get home.

The highlight of the return trip was being stopped at a light, with a young woman in the car to my left hanging her head out the window and sticking her finger down her throat. So I couldn’t help but notice, and she eventually emerged from her stupor to notice that I was noticing, and flipped me a double bird. Just charming! This is not my favorite holiday

Wow, that’s very cool. We live right there near where the video was taken. Probably in there somewhere walking down to the park.
