Mommy Matters

Kids. Don’t you just feel like abandoning them in a Walmart parking lot sometimes?

No? Really? Well…we don’t either. That would be wrong.

But, if you did feel that way, Melissa Benaroya, MSW and Robin Dowdy, M.Ed. are offering “Mommy Matters”, a series of six classes for mothers of toddlers:

New group led by local parent educators. An opportunity to share experiences and get support around what matters most to you as your child hits the “two’s” in a private and confidential setting:

  • Learn behavior management strategies.
  • Gain insight into toddler development.
  • Nurture & strengthen relationships with self, child(ren) and partner.
  • Feel confident about your parenting choices!

They’ll meet for six Wednesdays, July 8 – August 12, 10:00 – 11:30 am at Mosaic Coffee House (4401 Second Ave. NE) or 7:00 – 8:30 pm at The Hearthstone – Boardroom (6720 E Green Lake Way N.). Cost for each six-week series is $150.00. Pre-registration is required: Melissa Benaroya at (206) 226-6707 or [email protected].

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
