Missing Ferret

  • Post author:

OK, we were just about to lay off the lost / found animals thing, then we see this posted on the Green Lake Moms mailing list:

I saw and tried to catch (unsuccessfully) a ferret in our backyard this morning. My four year old son had seen ‘the rat’ a couple times yesterday. When he pointed it out today, ‘the rat’ turned out to be a not-so-shy ferret that almost came to me when I stretched out my empty hands. Unfortunately, our dog scared the poor little thing away by barking from inside the house. (We live a block away from 55th and Meridian.)

I will contact the local humane society to see if there are any reported lost ferrets, but please pass this along if you know of anyone missing their pet. I am happy it’s not ‘the rat’, but I worry the little pet won’t survive outside alone for long.

If you have an interest and know how I might catch the ferret (to provide to the humane society or a loving home), please email me directly.

E-mail us and we’ll put you in touch with Susan if you can help.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
