Vet Tails

This Story from the Community comes from Jayanne:

Hi, I’d like to shine the spotlight on my wonderful Wallingford neighbor, Dr. Cary Waterhouse. Dr. Cary is a veterinarian in private practice, but in his free time he helps educate pet owners about common pet issues. If you have a question about your pet, you can call in to the “Ask the Vet” radio show that he co-hosts airing on Sundays at 11 am on AM 570 KVI Seattle Talk Radio (206.421-5757).

I must confess that we called in once to ask about what to do when a neighbor’s 3 dogs (zing!) wouldn’t stop barking at us, and he chuckled and handled the call with good grace. He also recently started blogging on the King 5 News Pet Dish Blog, so if folks want some free pet advice they can write in there. And I’m sure he’d be willing to swap beekeeping stories with you hive-folks out there!

He is such a great resource for pet-lovers in Wallingford and beyond. I feel so lucky to have him as my neighbor (and what better pet-sitter can there be than a neighbor who is a vet!).

Funny, we never really thought about our bees as “pets”, but maybe so. I don’t think I’d post a “Missing Bee” poster, though.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
