Wallingford / Green Lake Garage Sales

Hoo-boy, anyone who’s been reading Wallyhood these last few days (and the comments section of the AIA and lottery posts) must think this blog is all about self-righteous puritanical screeds (or, as Troy prefers, “rants”). But it’s not true, we’re just homey folk who like picking through garage sales on warm summer days.

Which brings us to our weekly Wallingford / Green Lake Garage Sale and Open House map, as always prepared and provided in loving collaboration with the fine folks at My Green Lake:

This week’s Pick o’ the Week is 7416 Latona Ave NE, which features “18th century cash register (needs some work) that actually rings when the drawer opens, 8 piece copper kettle set, Quilling set/supplies, Palmer Clay with pasta machine, Fabric Paints and 3 boxes of rubber stamps”. In our dreams, the cash register has a false bottom, where the original owner has hidden away valuable old coins and stock certificates.

Seems a better bet than the lottery.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
