What have we sunk to, Wallingford? We saw this post on My Green Lake the other day:

Scarlet writes:

wheels2Last night on Woodlawn between Kirkwood and Kenwood, my neighbor’s car had the wheels taken off of her car. I notified her (she is out of town) boyfriend and the police have been called and have responded. Wondering if anyone saw anything or other cars were targeted last night?

We were amazed that such a thing could happen in the Wallingford / Green Lake neighborhood, but when we tweeted it, Andrew responded that this wasn’t an isolated incident:

I saw a wheel-less car yesterday near (I think) 44th/sunnyside.

Yikes.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

People. This is part of living in the big city, fergoodness sakes. It can and will happen. That’s why wheel locks are important. I had a car stolen out of my driveway in wedgwood while I slept right above it, not 10 feet away. The thieves are professionals, quick and quiet.
Lock your doors. Keep nothing in your car. Get wheel locks. Get motion controlled lights if possible.

But good for you for notifying your friend and calling the popo. The more this is reported, the more likely there will be copular presence.

Was there also one at 44th and Sunnyside? I know I saw one on 43rd and 2nd (Toyota, I think). Apparently, we need more insomniacs in the neighborhood.
