Construction on the Burke

Today I was walking by Urban Surf, and I couldn’t help but notice the construction.  It’s a big mess, and I was here about a week ago, and I saw the exact same thing.  Never once have i seen a construction worker.  Have they just abandoned the work?

Not sure about that site, but we detoured around construction on the Burke down by Husky Stadium today, and there were several workers pushing dirt around.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Not sure what the work going on along the Burke in front of the Urban Surf, but the work near Husky Stadium is apparently to install a new power line and vault to the triangle where Sound Transit will be building its new light rail station (this according to the Seattle Transit Blog). They’re doing the work now while the UW is on winter break to minimize impacts to students. …at least, that’s the general idea.
