Green Lake Pathway of Lights Tonight

(Poached from My Green Lake)

The Green Lake Pathway of Lights (not to be confused with the Green Lake Luminata) is a cherished Green Lake tradition.  This year’s event, the 33rd, will take place from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, rain or shine.

Every year during the holiday season, thousands of Seattleites walk around Green Lake’s loop, the path lit with luminaria.  Many people bring their own candles or other lights to hold as they walk.  More than one dog can be spotted wearing flashing reindeer antlers.

Local musicians perform at three sites: the Green Lake Community Center, the Green Lake Small Craft Center, and the Bathhouse Theater. Warm drinks and treats are available at those locations, as are bins for donating non-perishable food items to Northwest Harvest.

This year, fresh-baked cookies and hot beverages will also be available at Windermere’s new Green Lake Office (7300 E Green Lake Drive N), where donations can be made to the Windermere Foundation’s coat drive and the Family Works food bank.

Also of note: from 7:15 – 7:45 p.m. at the Green Lake Community Center, 350.org will be singing Green Holiday Carols (”Oh Come All Ye Wasteful … “).  Information about joining them in song can be found here.

Have a great time, Green Lake.  Be sure to say hi if you see us there!Green Lake

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

So glad you posted this again! I would have forgotten all about it. Such a nice tradition. I’m planning on going every year. Especially enjoyed the people and pooches draped in colorful lights.
