Hard Hat Tools

Heya – Your Gypsy Java article reminded me of this tidbit:

The Hard Hat Tools place at 35th and Stone moved out completely just before the weekend. Wondering if they folded or just moved?

We would be sad to hear that it’s gone, but, honestly, we never even knew it was there. Apparently, it was a great place to get your Paslode gas trim nailer repaired.

Hard Hat Tools, we hardly knew ye.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Now how’d I miss that? I was planning on doing a story about them first time we have snow & everyone else is sold out of snow shovels (they had plenty last year, when no one else did.)

Hard Hat Tools were notoriously anti-bicyclist. Here’s a photo of them intentionally (and illegally) blocking an organized bike ride with one of their trucks in 2007. They were bad neighbors and I shall shed no tears.

I could be mistaken but I think Hard Hat (formerly locally-owned Western Fastener) is owned by Modern Staple. Modern Staple owned lots of tool outlets – not sure what the larger company is up to – I do know their web page won’t load.
