21 and Gay!

Ah to be 21 again. 21 and gay.

Yep, it was twenty-one years ago, January 31st, 1989, that Changes Bar and Grill (née The Rat Hole, the city felt that name sullied the neighborhood and forced a change) opened its arms and its doors. They’ll be celebrating this fabulous birthday this weekend:

  • Friday. Happy Hour all day and all night, $.75 Draft Beers (1989 Prices) Prime Rib Dinner $11.75
  • Saturday. Happy Hour all day and all night,$.75 Draft Beers (1989 Prices) Free pool, Free Darts and Free Video Touch Screens, 2 tacos for $2.
  • Sunday. Happy Hour all day and all night, $.75 draft Beers (1989 Prices), $5 Mini Pitchers 12pm-7pm, Karaoke with Black Nail Productions 9pm·1am

OK, did anyone else read the above and say “1989 was twenty-one years ago?! Where did my life go?”

Jordan

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

    Wow… I’ve been out a long dang time! (1991)

Thanks, Jordan. I’ll be sure to go spend some glbt dollars there during the festivities!

ANY bar that survives more than 20 years should be celebrated. Congrats to Changes!
