Maha Lakshmi Puja with Sri Shiva Kumar

  • Post author:

Sutra Yoga and Wellness Center (1621 N.45th St.), the new yoga studio opened this past Fall next to Sutra the restaurant, is hosting a Sri Shiva Kumar, a “world renowned Pujari (Priest) from South India”, this Sunday, January 24th from 3:00 – 4:30 pm.

This Puja, directed by Sri Shiva Kumar, is a blessed ceremonial practice to bring about spiritual, material, and relational abundance for 2010. It helps remove the obstacles that are keeping us from creating abundance.

Participation in this Puja is to attain and spread Peace and Prosperity in: relationships, education, career, courage & compassion. We hope you can join us for this very rare, sacred opportunity.

We’re told that his Pujas are known for both their elegance and strict adherence to their Vedic purity. Participants are encouraged to bring a $25 cash donation (which goes to Sri Shiva to support his travels) as well as a small meditation cushion and flowers for an offering of intention to the altar and energy of Maja Lakshmi. They’re also looking for four people to log a little seva (selfless service) by cutting fruit and coconut prior to the puja.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
