What’s up in the Neighbor-‘Hoods?

  • Post author:

Okay, you may be asking yourself, “Did anything happen worth knowing about outside of Wallingford last week?”.  To expand your horizons (a bit), here are the highlights from blogs in the surrounding ‘hoods:

  • Gertie the Hippo: Sadly, Phinneywood reports that the oldest animal in the Woodland Park Zoo, at 47 years and 5,000 pounds, was euthanized.  Let’s hope that you and I fare better.
  • Hazel Heights P-Patch: Opened on March 21st at NW 47th St. and Baker Ave. NW according to Fremont Universe.  Good growing!
  • Big Hands Guy: My Green Lake reports this notorious thief (seen earlier here in Wallingford) is hitting businesses in that neighborhood.
  • Bling for Your Garden: Also, check out My Green Lake’s photo gallery of garden awesomeness.  (Not that I don’t think we could do better).
  • Red Robin Restaurant: This Seattle original  closed last Sunday as reported by Eastlake Ave.  Fare thee well, fallen Robin.
  • Crime Stats: Some good news from Capitol Hill Seattle, bad behavior in that neighborhood has gone down.  Obviously, the Big Hands Guy hasn’t made his way over there yet.

Helen

Helen has lived in Wallingford for 16 years and think it’s the best neighborhood in Seattle, possibly the world. She has worn a track between her house, QFC and the library and spends a lot time poking her nose into things. She is a mother, does volunteer work and is interested in local, green and child-related issues. She has an advanced degree in English literature and thus reads a lot and enjoys the craft of writing. She also works part-time for her husband’s software company (doesn’t everyone have a software company around here?).
