Bikes are Beautiful

This is a Ballard event, but we’re big enough fans of bikes that we’re going to give it some love:

BIKES ARE BEAUTIFUL!
A one-night celebration of bicycle culture, SATURDAY APRIL 10, 2010 6pm – 2am
Hosted by Viking Fire Foundry – 4710 Ballard Ave Seattle

This is an indoor/outdoor rain or shine event. Bikes are not mandatory but spontaneous parading up and down Ballard Avenue is encouraged.

Just down the street from The Tractor, Sunset Tavern and other venues. Come early or late. This is one party which will be going after last call.

From 6 – 9 pm there will be free silk-screening of these fine logos on whatever you bring to silkscreen:

There will be bike films and DJ’s all night, and we have it on good authority that known Wallingford ne’er do wells Hoyt and Heidi, along with organizer Rob Z have constructed a bicycle powered daiquiri blender exclusively for this event.

It’s like Portland, except Seattle!

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

We’re working on a no-car plan for when we return to Wallingford from our stint abroad. Most people are telling us how it can never be done. Thanks for encouraging us!
