Best of the Web Nominees

Well, we’ve just gotta blush. The Seattle Weekly’s Best of the Web 2010 nominee list was announced yesterday, and who should we find on list for “Best Neighborhood Blogger”?

Seattle’s Best Neighborhood Blogger
Tracy Record, West Seattle blog
Scott Dunham, Central District news blogNancy Brainard, Seattle P-I/Capitol Hill Blog
Ronald Holden, Belltown/food blogger
Jordan Schwartz, Wallyhood.org

Hey, that’s we…us…me! (This whole “Wallyhood we” thing makes for some awkward constructions sometimes, forgive us).

Given the quality of other nominees, we’re not digging our tux out of storage, but we are honored to have been mentioned. And, should the estimable judging committee (Ben Huh, Chris Pirillo, John Cook, Rachel Ratner, Matt Harding, Ethan Lowry, Florangela Davila, Ryan Henry Ward, and Zibby Wilder) happen to read this, we thought we’d make their tough jobs easier by rolling up a few of what we consider our finer work:

And some simpler posts from the wayback machine:

Or go ahead and curl up with a with a cup of tea and read ’em all.

Jordan

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
