Kiddie Parade and Street Fair

What kind of neighborhood blog would we be if we didn’t remind you that tomorrow, Saturday July 10th is one the biggest Wallingford events of the year? No kind of neighborhood blog, that’s the kind of neighborhood blog we’d be.

SeaFair ClownsFortunately, we are every kind of neighborhood blog, so we’re here to tell you that tomorrow, Saturday July 10th, is the 61st annual Kiddie Parade and Street Fair. The Street Fair on Wallingford Ave between 45th and 43rd kicks off at 10 a.m. with over 40 vendors selling food, crafts and other delights, alongside inflatables and ponies (ponies? Did he say ponies? Yes, ponies!), and then the highlight of the day, the Kiddie Parade, kicks off at 11 a.m. down 45th Street. All kids are welcome to participate, you don’t have to sign up in advance or anything like that, just come and have fun.

What more can we tell you? Perhaps a refresher on the tale of the breakdancing club kids and the fitness gym owner will warm your cockles? Did we mention the music, performances, ice cream, and kite-making? We should have! Because it’s all going to be there, tomorrow, Saturday July 10th in the heart of Wallingford.

If hot dogs and hamburgers aren’t to your taste, Avila will be whipping up some fun “street food” for the event, as well: giant housemade ice cream cannolis from their coldstone frozen counter, Italian sodas, New Orleans beignets, and cheap paninis, all sold from their storefront on the parade route.

OK, so, see you there.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

If you don’t know already, 45th and “downtown” Wallyhood will be an utter clusterfuck from 10am-4pm,so try to avoid the area if you’re not fond of kiddlings.
