Mural Redesign

  • Post author:

The 46th Street Mural Project (see And the muralist is… for background) had to go an emergency redesign to accomodate the overhead live trolley lines through the Aurora underpass, but rest easy, the new look has been approved by the city and the project is back underway.

Here’s a look at it:

“We like the way the redesign turned out and actually think that the irregularity of the top edge has made the overall design more dynamic,” Patricia Hopper, Project Manager of  the Public Art Program in the Mayor’s office, wrote in the approval letter.

“We are pleased and relieved that Todd did the redesign and that it got approval so fast,” added Steering Committee co-chair Craig Van den Bosch.  “Volunteers have already removed weeds and scraped the wall’s rough spots, so we are ready to go.”

We can’t wait.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
