Boom

If you’re wondering what those two booms were that shook your house a few minutes ago, they were sonic booms from military aircraft scrambling to investigate an “unknown aircraft” in President Obama’s airspace, according to the FAA.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

If the pilot had read Wallyhood last night, he/she might’ve known to avoid the area.

We heard it in south seattle, and the whole building shook. I guess we heard it all over seattle.

I was about two blocks from the Grand Central, and had been among the thousands who attempted to see Obama. The first boom was smaller, and people just looked around. The second boom rattled the building, and everyone in the room. Immediately after, a siren started and I believe we were all sure Obama had been attacked. It was only when no more sirens we heard that we concluded that nothing serious had happened.
