DIY Ice Cream Sandwich

  • Post author:

We’ve always been a bit jealous of Portland’s awesome bike culture and food cart culture. Well, how about this: this Saturday, as previously mentioned, we get a bit of bike culture with the Fiets of Parenthood, and tomorrow we get some food cart culture.

Street Treats, a mobile dessert truck, will be parked outside of Fuel Coffee on 45th Street tomorrow, Wednesday Augusth 11th from 4 – 7 pm. From the Street Treats web site:

Street Treats will offer homemade baked daily cookies, brownies, bars, cookie sandwiches, build your own ice cream cookie sandwiches and other fun dessert items.  We will change out our menu weekly, yet still carry a few basics.  In addition, we have hand held pies and homemade ice cream from High 5 Pie and Bluebird homemade ice cream.

Build your own ice cream sandwich? We like the way this summer is turning out.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
