Pirates and Pipsqueaks

  • Post author:

As all good Pastafarians know, the world needs more pirates, since the disappearance of pirates has led to rising threat of global warming.

Fear not, Wallingford, Solid Ground not only helps the disadvantaged, it supports local pirates!

Pirates and Pipsqueaks, an old fashioned carnival with old fashioned prices for kids of all ages, will take place Sunday, August 22nd from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Solid Ground parking lot, 1501 N. 45th Street.

Enjoy a lovely summer afternoon with the Seafair Pirates.  Vintage carnival games will include Dunk the Pirate, a Pirate Bounce House, Walk the Plank, Cupcake Walk, Pirate Whiffle Ball, Ducks in the Pond, Balloon Darts, Bottle Ring Toss,  and lots more. Kids can enter the Pirate Costume Contest, and pose for photos with the Seafair Pirates. Watch special guests the Seattle Derby Brats perform skating demos throughout the day.  See a real pirate ship, win fabulous prizes, enjoy live music, face painting, food and fun!

All proceeds will benefit services for homeless children at Broadview Shelter and Transitional Housing, a program of Solid Ground.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
