Baby, You Can Wash My Car

  • Post author:

The Sisters Check In on the CarwashColleen from Cutz sent us this note:

Bring your dirty cars (not your dirty minds) to CUTZ Meridian (4515 Meridian Ave N) to be washed this Saturday from 11 – 2. It’s a fundraiser for the volleyball team at Changes Bar and Grill, “The Cocktails”! All sevices at CUTZ will be 25% off that day!

Now yes, she said “not your dirty minds”, but Wallingford’s only gay bar has a volleyball team named The Cocktails, and they’re going to be getting wet and soaped up outside the Cutz Salon? You’re not making it easy, Colleen!

(Note: The photo of Seattle’s own Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at a car wash just happens to be a photo we found on the Interwebs by Glenn Williams. We have no reason to believe they’ll be there, except because we think it would awesome.)

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

The photo is actual Portland’s Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, although the Sisters of The Abbey of Saint Joan, Seattle’s own Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, have been known to wash a car or three! While we weren’t aware of this particular event, we’re always happy to be asked! We love to hear from our community!
