Ayron Jones and the Way

We’re having a hard time wrapping our brain around this, but we’re going to recommend you go to Babalu tonight.

Yes, yes. The Babalu that our readers regularly decry for the idiocy it brings to the neighborhood. But tonight there’s a band playing that, if we’re to judge by the samples they have on-line, sound really good. So what are you going to do? If you like the blues, at least give them a listen.

$5 cover, show starts at 9 pm.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

He’s great! I have never CONSIDERED going to Babalu. But maybe tonight, first time.

We had a great time at Babalu one winter night. Expecting nothing, we shook our tails well into the second set. Everyone seemed friendly as heck. Guess I’ve missed all the Babalu dissing, so I don’t know what’s up with that (I’ll check archives), but I’m thrilled to have a music club that brings more color (& funk) into our lily-white hood.

Yeah, I’ve been in for drinks maybe three times early in the evening and aside from consistently being the shortest person there by at least a foot and a half, everyone’s been delightful. I like the place.
