Happy Thanksgiving

  • Post author:

When we were growing up, we’d “work up an appetite” by taking a walk around the block with the family. When we moved to Seattle, the tradition changed to games with friends at the playground across the street: four square, kickball, whatever it took to get us good and hungry.

This year, it looks like it’s going to be sledding.

Hope everyone has a warm place to spend this Thanksgiving. Thank you for spending this past year with us!

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

I’d particularly like to thank Helen for her photojournalism of the neighborhood over the last year.

I really enjoy the slice-of-life photos that have appeared on this blog. She has a great eye for the small things that you need to slow down to see and enjoy.

(Maybe that’s my New Year’s resolution right there — slow down! Thanks Helen!)

For us, it was a family walk to Woodland Park, along Greenlake and home. Worked up quite the appetite.
