Travel the Wide World with Nancy Pearl

  • Post author:

Celebrity Seattle Librarian (what a great phrase!) Nancy Pearl will grace our shores on Wednesday, Dec. 15th at Wallingford’s own Wide World Books and Maps at 7 PM to do a reading of Book Lust to Go.  20% of proceeds from all shop sales from 6 PM to close that night will be donated to Solid Ground.

According to Wendy Platt of Wide World, Nancy is “a self-proclaimed reluctant traveler” so the recommendations in Book Lust to Go are for both “armchair travelers and people who love to travel”, with a mix of fiction and nonfiction.

Come listen to Nancy read, ask questions afterward and get a signed copy.  After all, how many cities can boast a Librarian with her own action figure in their midst (get it at Archie McPhee)?

Other noteworthy events upcoming at Wide World Books and Maps are 25% off all luggage this Veterans Day weekend (Nov. 11-14) for winter-escape vacations and a children’s book drive throughout the month of December, also to benefit Solid Ground.  Purchase and donate a book in the store (did you know they have a wide-ranging children’s book section?) or bring in gently used books from home.  Nancy was reportedly “thrilled” at the effort to support Solid Ground, showing she likes to read about travel but also keeps her feet solidly on the ground.

Helen

Helen has lived in Wallingford for 16 years and think it’s the best neighborhood in Seattle, possibly the world. She has worn a track between her house, QFC and the library and spends a lot time poking her nose into things. She is a mother, does volunteer work and is interested in local, green and child-related issues. She has an advanced degree in English literature and thus reads a lot and enjoys the craft of writing. She also works part-time for her husband’s software company (doesn’t everyone have a software company around here?).
