What in the Wallingford

  • Post author:

We did a little better at stumping you this past week than we did the week before. It took closer to six hours for Barb to correctly identify the mosaic crowning the bollard at 40th and 4th Ave NE, as opposed to the 6 minutes it took for Jared to identify the top of the Taco Time sign.

Let’s see how we do this week.

As always, first one to leave a comment on this post identifying where and what is pictured above wins. This week’s prize is 50% off a house cleaning compliments of the fine folks at our sponsor, Green Cleaning Seattle, Seattle’s locally owned and operated green cleaning company. Nothing like a spring cleaning when someone else is doing the cleaning, we always say.

Jordan

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

It’s a bathysphere, down by the edge of Gasworks (I just walked by it yesterday).

Alright, clearly we’re going to have to make this harder.

Shoot someone got it. I saw it out of the corner of my eye today driving on N Northlake and nearly crashed. I was amazed at my luck but a day late.

Jordan — so far, I think the photos have had too much context.

Also, my answer was a bit of fluke – I don’t normally walk down Northlake, and the ‘sphere is painted the same colors as the buildings behind it so it’d be easy to miss while driving – it’s just that my inner 10-yr-old science dork was very excited to see something in the wild, as it were, that was straight from the old National Geographics I had while growing up…

It’s that scare crow thing across from Greenlake 53 or 54th and greenlake ave or Stoneway ave I’m always confused with the street names.
