Wallingford’s Most Wanted

Sometimes, Wallyhood provides a place for readers to do a bit of community policing in its Forums and Comments.  So, to be safer and better-informed, read on:

  • A rash of plant poisonings and uprootings.  Got any leads?  Have your plants been damaged?  Ideas about why someone would target such helpless and innocent victims?
  • How safe is Wallingford for single, female residents?, asks a potential newcomer from the Eastside.  Got any input or experiences?
  • The ever-contentious debate over removing signs from telephone poles rolls along.  Explore this unusual controversy for yourself, you’ll never look at a pole the same way again.
  • Another newcomer asks about the area around 45th St. and 4th Ave. NE and helpful neighbors give input (including advice about plant homicide and posting flyers on telephone poles).

Several crime posts also generated lively discussion, including Wallyhood’s “Snagging and Tagging” and “Burglary Rash” and  Margaret’s “Car Prowlers Arrested”.  As Sgt. Phil Esterhaus would say, “Hey, let’s be careful out there!”.

With all of this flyer and pole talk, we leave you with this clip that Wallyhood reader Maria posted on our Facebook page, aptly titled:  “Flyer Wars” from the new show, Portlandia.

Helen

Helen has lived in Wallingford for 16 years and think it’s the best neighborhood in Seattle, possibly the world. She has worn a track between her house, QFC and the library and spends a lot time poking her nose into things. She is a mother, does volunteer work and is interested in local, green and child-related issues. She has an advanced degree in English literature and thus reads a lot and enjoys the craft of writing. She also works part-time for her husband’s software company (doesn’t everyone have a software company around here?).
