Power Out

  • Post author:

Brian tipped us off that there’s a power outage in Lower Wallingford this morning due to a downed pole. From his photo, it looks to be at 34th and Meridian.

He sends his condolences to Burks and the other Wallingford pole polishers.

Alixito adds that it was caused by a car accident and that approximately 630 homes are impacted. Estimated fix by 2:07 pm.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

The Prius saved the Honda! Any pics of the car that caused the pole toppling down??

The truck in the shrubs hit the pole. Both airbags were deployed, and it came to rest on the entrance to the Windermere building.

I’m pretty certain the Prius wasn’t hit by the pole. It just looks that way in the photo. I walked down there this morning around 7:30. I heard the big boom-boom around 5 am.

    Also, Wallyhood just said pole-polisher…
