Weekend in Wallingford

Here are a few tips to help you enjoy your weekend right here in our own neighborhood:

  • Both City Cellars in the heart of Wallingford and Wine World down by I-5 have wine tastings on Friday. City Cellars will feature wines from Reininger Winery, specializing “in crafting elegant and finely structured red wines from hand-harvested, ultra premium grapes” while Wine World will have a set of South Seattle wineries on tap (do you say “on tap” about wines? Probably not.)
  • Wayne Horvitz plays Friday nightat the Chapel Performance Space in the Good Shepherd Center. The description says he’ll be there for a discussion and presentation of his music. We’re assuming that “presenting” music is kind of like “playing” it.
  • Seattle Tilth will be holding a City Ducks 101 course on Saturday: “This introductory class is perfect for anyone interested in raising a team of ducks in their own backyard. We’ll cover basic physiology and behavior, housing, nutrition, city regulations, different breeds and egg laying.” Quack quack.

Something good that we’re missing? Let us know.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

A “team” of ducks? Are they going to need a sponsor and/or uniforms? A dugout? Will a coach of some sort be required, or will i have to haul them to a specific playfield for practice?

    I need more information, please.
