60 Second Interview! – Jay Farias

Pull up a bar stool and take a minute to get to know another wonderful Wallyhood sponsor:

Jay Farias, Proprietor of Bandolero:

Where are you from? – Dartmouth, Massachusetts. I moved here in 1991.

What’s the secret of your success? – I’m not successful yet!  But the secret to success is hard work, diligence and stick-to-it-iveness.  You can’t give up because the restaurant business is a roller-coaster ride.  You have to serve a good quality product with a friendly staff.  People have to be happy that they’re working here.

What do you like best about Wallingford? – There’s a big sense of community here, a lot of great neighbors.  Great people, great community.  Everybody knows everybody else.  Business owners drop by to talk to each other.

Finally, what’s your favorite flavor of ice cream? – Tillamook’s Oregon blackberry

Helen

Helen has lived in Wallingford for 16 years and think it’s the best neighborhood in Seattle, possibly the world. She has worn a track between her house, QFC and the library and spends a lot time poking her nose into things. She is a mother, does volunteer work and is interested in local, green and child-related issues. She has an advanced degree in English literature and thus reads a lot and enjoys the craft of writing. She also works part-time for her husband’s software company (doesn’t everyone have a software company around here?).
