Cinco de Bandolero

  • Post author:

We never gave a proper welcome for our newest Wallyhood sponsor, Bandolero (2253 N 56th St), so the week of Cinco de Mayo seems like a proper time to do it. After all, this is the bar with over sixty different types of tequila to choose from. On St. Patrick’s Day, go to Murphy’s. On Cinco de Mayo, make it Bandolero.

Doors open at noon on Thursday, they’ll be turning their deck into a Margarita and Beer Garden and featuring The Aha Toro Tequila Ice Luge. Having spent Sunday morning recovering from Saturday night with the some hair of the dog courtesy of Aha Toro, we can only imagine how it will taste at the end of a luge.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Went there had the odd but delicious Margarita made with Limoncello, and the astounding Sopas. They were so good, I’m afraid I could just get three orders of those for a massive dinner.

Service was nice, felt very familiar and comfortable. I liked Luau, but this place feels like it has longer legs. Touch wood.
