Walking Tour Seeks Beekeepers

  • Post author:

Wallingford Walks is a monthly tour of bits of Wallingford: solar homes, interesting gardens and the like. Last year, our own little backyard was a stop on the Birds, Bees and Goats tour, featuring backyard chicken coops, beehives and…whatever you call the place where goats live. It was great fun, but unfortunately, this year, we’ll be out of town for the Birds, Bees and Goats reprise, and can’t host the bee hive portion of the our.

Thus, the purpose of this post: we know there are other beekeepers around the ‘hood. Would one of you be willing to show off your hives to an interested group of your neighbors on July 16? If so, please contact Mary Heim, she’ll pass along the info to the right folks.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
