Kiddie Fair Seeks You

2010 07 10 - Wallingford Kiddies Parade_NP 98The 62nd Annual Wallingford SeaFair Kiddies Parade is coming up in one month, Saturday July 9th, and they’re looking for participants (not just kids).

Join the tricycle riders, floats, marching bands, dancers, princesses and pirates, fire trucks, and the Seafair Clowns and their families, and much more for this fun family friendly event.   All children are welcome to join in the parade with or without costume, or just come and watch for fun.

Families, groups and individuals are invited to participate in the Parade. Or you could organize your block or community group into a simple, themed ensemble, or just show up in your costumes, hats and grand ensembles of all descriptions.  Think Globally!   Or, just bring garlands of flowers and colorful streamers for a celebratory touch.  We also encourage “original” Wallingford kids who may have a few gray hairs but still feel young at heart.  Did you grow up in the neighborhood, marching in the parade?  If so, we want you there to help us celebrate! Call some of your old friends, or come by yourself.  A group will be assembled that morning. Individuals or small groups of children do not have to register for the parade.  Just show up! It’s FREE

Suzanna Wheeler is helping organize and asked for special call-out for “stilters, jugglers, eccentrics, buskers, and street perfomers”.

If you are interested participating as a vendor a large group, please visit the Street Fair web site for info on how to let them know. They’re asking for applications to be submitted by June 15th, which is coming right up!

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
