Fluffernutter

“Hungry? Stop by our Seattle storefront around 11 AM for a free fluffernutter.” – @archiemcphee

Wha-wha? We called Archie McPhee (1300 N. 45th St) to find out what that meant.

“There’s some people coming in for a photo shoot, then they’ll be handing out fluffernutter sandwiches,” we were told.

But who? And why? Several phone calls later, the mystery was as thick as processed sandwich spread.

We left messages, but we can’t promise we’ll know in time. If you go, please send or tweet us a photo! In the meantime, enjoy this video Archie McPhee posted to their Twitter stream:

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

OBVIOUSLY you’re not from the East Coast. 🙂

    The taste of my childhood.

I ate this sandwich all the time as a kid. Is it an east coast thing? I grew up in Tacoma.

@Jen – I grew up in the Boston area and the Fluff brand (the “Fluff” in Fluffernutter) was created in Somerville, MA and is still made in Lynn, MA.

At the event yesterday, Rusty said she was going to the annual Fluffernutter event in MA at the end of September. I think she said she was going to be co-Queen with Susan Olsen (aka Cindy Brady from the Brady Bunch!)

Fluffernutter conjures up my memories of camp in the 70s. Ahhhh, those were the days…fueled by corn syrup, peanut butter and Wonder Bread.
