Rain Under Water?

We heard from Twitter that Rain Sushi has been closed this week. We tried their phone number, but it’s been “temporarily disconnected”. According to some folks who have walked by, the sign in the door says they are temporarily closed due to a water leak, but it’s not clear how long that will last (one Twitterer said she’s been by three days this week, and they’ve been closed each time).

It’s bad timing: they just sold over 2,000 coupons through Groupon and the deal is still on. Last time they did that, we heard a lot of complaints from people who tried to come in and use their coupon but found the restaurant unable to keep up with the flood of people seeking to redeem. TrevorBramble sent us this link to Groupon reviews of Rain that had some grumblings. This should only make things worse. Hope they get it cleared up quickly.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

    I remember when the Taco Del Mar in Fremont was also supposedly closed due to water issues. They never re-opened.
