H-Art Attack At Green Lake

  • Post author:

Continuing the V-Day theme, if you’re taking a stroll around Green Lake today, you may notice this beauty of an “installation”:

This is the third year running for a H-Art Attack installation from these artists (who wish to remain anonymous):

I was feeling Valentines day was contrived. Romance needs to happen this day. Are chocolate and red roses romantic? They lacked creativity.

So I decided to make it about creativity and expression for my self and an opportunity to add some surprise to others. The art is temporary up for only a few days. Hearts have always been involved, but the material has been different each year. I’ve invited others to contribute as well. Last year there were 4 artists work around Green Lake, this year just me with some help from a friend. One installation at Green Lake and 2 at Jefferson Park.

Over the last 3 years I can really see my perspective about the day changing in my art. I have started to look forward to Valentines as a chance to be creative rather than being annoyed by it. And I have seen little romantic moments happen as people come upon one of the installations. Which is kind of my point you can’t plan ahead for those moments you can’t buy them.

This H-art is about loves illusive nature. I think allot of people my see the art but miss the Heart all together.

And don’t worry, Nancy, the artist goes on to mention that “we really make sure to treat any plants or trees used in the facilitation of our installations are treated with the utmost care (no trees were injured in the making of this art).”

We were pretty sure either Wallyhood or My Green Lake covered this last year, but our Google Fu isn’t turning up the links. If yours is better, let us know so we can link to the photos here.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Such a delightful surprise! I remember when this popped up last year, I almost missed seeing it because I was looking down at the pavement. My walking companion stopped and pointed it out. Don’t miss it today, if you’re on your Green Lake walk…
