I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.

Zoo members go to the head of the Zoo Tunes ticket line starting tomorrow, April25, little membership perk.

I would definitely not recommend supporting the Woodland Park zoo in any way. There have been numerous instances of animal abuse there and the zoo is being investigated by ALDF. (aldf.org)

no animal deserves to be held in captivity for our selfish entertainment or amusement! animals can be observed in their normal habitats much better through computer tech. no need for these anachronistic abuse parks anywhere.

    teach your children compassion!

There are plenty of people who aren’t opposed to zoos on general principle, but do have problems with the corporation currently in charge at Woodland Park. The surrounding neighborhood managed to sink their massive parking garage project (that the city would have had to pay for.) Cf. http://saveourzoo.blogspot.com/

Haven’t been since they closed the noctural house.
