Hand Painted Shoes and Wine

This looks like some fun: from 6 – 10 pm tonight at 509 Wines (1300 N. Northlake Way, where the Burke Gilman crosses Stone Way, by Solsticio) there’s a silent auction to raise money for a new business, Hourglass Footwear:

Do you love gorgeous shoes? How about art? What about original art hand-painted ON gorgeous shoes…plus wine?

Great! We’ve got your Friday night covered!

Join the talented women of Hourglass Footwear in Fremont tomorrow for a fabulous night of drinking, socializing, silent-auctioning and celebrating local, women- (and artist!) owned small business. The silent auction will include, among other fantastic items: original artwork, portraits (pet and human), art classes, acupuncture and other bodywork, tattoo sessions, clothing, graphic design services, and, of course, hand-painted Hourglass shoes.

We’re also raffling off some delicious Washington wine from 509, so bring a few dollars if you want to be included in the drawing.

Hourglass Footwear is also raising money through Kickstarter: “Hourglass Footwear was founded by Kira Bundlie and Lisa Ström and features the work of ten very talented Seattle-area artists. We plan to launch a collection of gorgeous hand-painted shoes (clogs, flats, mid-heels and stilettos) in early July.”

(Thanks for the tip, Rachel and Yolanda!)

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
