EL Workshop

Burning Man, the annual art festival cum bacchanal (or, perhaps more properly, bacchanal cum art festival), is coming up at the end of the month. If you're going and don't have your night-time costumes together yet, there's still time, and Not A Number on 45th St is here to help. They'll be hosting two EL Wire workshops for beginners this month, on Aug 8, 1 - 3 PM and then again on Aug 15 1 - 3 PM. Registration is required…

Yogalife News

Back in June, we wrote that Yogalife was opening up a Wallingford location. We just heard from Megan that they've got more than just a yoga studio in mind, and that they have several "pre-opening" events lined up, including one this Sunday, August 8th: It is indeed being opened by Michael Suzerris, owner of Yogalife, but will be more than simply a yoga studio. We have no handy grandparents in the area and so breaks from our baby are few and far between. Couch dates tend to be the rule. At the same time, we're frequently out walking in the hood to…

Paint ball attacks, crime

In a bizarre turn, several cars in the vicinity of 42nd St N and Sunnyside were hit with paint balls. Caroline shared a report from one of her neighbors: This morning about 6:00 AM S---- was wakened by the sound of a paint gun (pop, pop, pop sounds). She observed a man in bicycle shorts pouring something in front of [other neighbors] driveway. She was unable to see who it was . I was awakened and we both looked out our…

We understand from Dancehop.com that there will be a milonga (i.e., there will be tango dancing) tonight at Selena's Guadalajara (1715 N 45th St).
