Not a chopper

We've gotten a few inquiries from readers along the lines of "What's up with the helicopter circling over Wallingford? Are we in a war zone?" Turns out, it's not a helicopter at all. Instead, it's some enormous pavement grinder grinding pavement on I-5. Dan snapped this picture of it: As long as you're not sleeping, you may as well read more about it on the WSDOT web site. Last Art Walk

We told ya yesterday that today would be the last Wallingford Art Walk of 2009, but Colleen just sent us some tidbits to further entice: The Wire tapper's will be playing on the Wallingford Center patio. Coloring contest winner will be named. Clowns too. Pedicab...maybe Cutz will feature Alex Gerasev an artist for Russia! The Kerf International in the Wallingford Center will have music art and food! New School Districts Drawn

The Seattle Public Schools has released the newly redrawn school district maps. These maps show to which school your child will be assigned based on where you live. Click on the map at right to see the full-size document, but as you can see, the boundaries have changed significantly. Radio Day is Coming!

Earthquake! Volcano! Swine Flu! A group of volunteers has been quietly putting together a plan to help Wallingford stay connected in the event of a natural disaster. Part of that plan involves purchasing and distributing ham radios to key points throughout the neighborhood to keep the different areas informed in the event of an infrastructure-crushing disaster. “Radio Day” is coming!
