Stacey pointed us towards a Publicola article detailing several efforts underway to fill some of the eyesores around the city with…something better. The Seattle Design Commission has put out a call for ideas for interim uses for the stalled construction projects:

Have you noticed how many lots have been left empty or partially developed due to the stalled economy? These vacant project sites are all around us. Unattractive and unbecoming of our …

Put out your garbage

Jordan April 22, 2010 Comments are off

Guild Exit Poll – ‘The Joneses’

Helen April 22, 2010 3 Comments

Forget professional reviewers.  Find out what the people think!  Here are the impressions of actual, real-life Wallingford moviegoers as they were exiting The Guild‘s new film, The Joneses, with David Duchovny and Demi Moore (talk about a eugenics experiment):

“For what it was, it was entertaining.  It was not deep in any way, an interesting romantic comedy.  It came out at the wrong time.  In our failed economy, this is more about economic affluence.“

“Great movie!  Well put together, very professional, top of the line, not a flaw.  But not that funny, just ok.”

“Thought it was going …

Meridian Market’s Leather Anniversary

Jordan April 22, 2010 Comments are off

This Saturday, April 24th Meridian Market (2201 N 56th St) celebrates their third year in business (which the Internets tell us is traditionally celebrated with leather).

They’ll be kicking it off with a breakfast buffet from 9 am – noon, and they’ll be serving free coffee, lemonade and birthday cake all day.

From 1 – 3 pm you can expect samples from their vendors, including 2 Chefs Hummus, Yukon Jackson – Herd of Turtles, and Uli’s Famous Sausages (Uli himself is expected to attend) and from 4 – 7 pm, we’ll hear live music courtesy of the Rabbit Stew String …
